PEER SUPPORT AND MENTAL WELLNESS

The St Cloud Police Department has an atmosphere of wellness and caring. The department has a Peer Support team that consists of 25 members made up of multiple ranks and non-sworn personnel that have received 40 hours of specialized training. We utilize an application called PeerConnect so that all employees can access Peer Support at any time of day with the push of a button.  PeerSupport team members post wellness related articles to the application for employees to review. Our sworn employees receive training yearly by our clinical director who is a licensed therapist on topics such as the importance of sleep, exercise, eating healthy, etc.  Officers are encouraged to reach out and set up appointments for themselves or family members as needed. We have a state of the art gym within the police department that is open to all employees and their family members. The gym is updated frequently with new equipment. We have a pickle ball court inside of our heated parking garage that employees can use. The city pays for Calcium Heart Score testing for officers over 35 which is an easy way to potentially detect warning signs of heart troubles early.
